The People Behind Simple Path Recovery
How a Small Pompano Beach Team Built One of South Florida’s Most Trusted Outpatient Programs
We Built This Because We Needed It
In 2011, our Operations Supervisor, Matt Wilkof, got sober. He had been a working musician until then, with a touring schedule and a substance problem he could no longer outrun. The treatment that worked for him was the kind almost no facility actually delivers: small, specific, and run by people who knew his name.
A year later, in 2012, he left the road and entered the treatment industry. He worked in other people’s facilities for three years, watching the same patterns repeat: large programs that flattened every client into the same curriculum, rotating clinicians who left before they ever really knew anyone, and admissions processes designed to capture insurance authorizations rather than care for human beings.
In 2015, Matt joined Simple Path Recovery. The program had just opened the year before, and the founders wanted to build something deliberately small. Matt’s job was to keep it that way as it grew. A decade later, he runs day-to-day operations as Operations Supervisor, and the principle has not changed. Simple Path is small on purpose, owner-operated by design, and structured so that the people who answer the phone are the same people you will sit with on day one.
Our Mission
To help adults recover from drug and alcohol addiction in an environment small enough to remember every name, accountable enough to admit when something is not working, and connected enough that no one walks out of our doors alone.
What We Stand For
Four principles guide how we run Simple Path Recovery. They are not aspirational. They are operational, which means we measure them, hire for them, and let them shape every clinical and business decision.
Stay Small on Purpose
Our census is capped. We turn away admissions when we are full rather than stretching the clinical team beyond what we can do well. That is the trade we made, and it is the reason our outcomes look the way they do.
Staff Who Have Lived It
A meaningful portion of our clinical and support staff are themselves in long-term recovery from addiction. The rest have spent their careers in addiction medicine, counseling, and the clinical study of addiction.
Stay Owner-Operated
We are not a private-equity rollup or a hospital subsidiary. The people who own Simple Path Recovery work here. Clinicians make clinical decisions, and operators make operational ones, answering only to clients.
Stay Connected After Discharge
Recovery does not end on discharge day. Our alumni team stays in touch with every former client and their family for as long as they want us in their corner. The phone calls do not stop and support is ongoing.
How We Actually Treat Addiction
Simple Path Recovery is an adult, outpatient addiction treatment program. We do not run a residential bed. We do not treat mental health conditions as a primary focus. We are a focused outpatient program, and that focus is what allows us to be good at the one thing we do.
Our continuum moves clients across three levels of outpatient care, depending on where they are clinically: Partial Hospitalization for the most structure, Intensive Outpatient as the working step-down, and Standard Outpatient for clients who are stabilizing and rebuilding their independence. Every level is run by the same clinical team, so the relationships that form on day one continue all the way through discharge.
The clinical modalities we use are not unusual. Most outpatient programs in South Florida use cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, and twelve-step facilitation. The difference is what surrounds them: small group sizes that allow real discussion, family programming that brings the people you live with into the work, and an adventure therapy component that gets clients out of conference rooms and into the Florida outdoors as part of the clinical week.
